Frequently Asked Questions about Lumecca IPL

What should I expect before and after my IPL treatment?

After treatment, redness and a slight warming of the skin are normal. These usually subside within an hour or two. Over the next 24-48 hours you may see a darkening of pigmented spots; in the week afterwards the pigmented lesions flake off, leading to an evening out of skin tone. After treating vascular lesions you may see the vein blanch and disappear or a color change in the vessel which dissipates after a few days.

How does Lumecca IPL work?

Lumecca is the most powerful IPL provider to treat pigmented skin and vascular lesions. Its advanced technology is able to provide results faster than any other IPL providers. It uses a special handpiece which is equipped with xenon flash lamp to treat the areas effectively. Since it uses photothermolysis, the photofacial treatment is comfortable. The IPL device is like a laser, which unlike the latter emits a range of light-waves that can be tuned and targeted to treat specific things. It uses intense pulses of non-coherent light over a range of wavelength. The light is meant to reach either the melanin or the hemoglobin and can be targeted towards blood vessels and pigmented cells. The light is then absorbed by the blood vessels or by the melanin. The targeted blood vessels walls get damaged, or the melanin breaks up once they absorb the light. They are then absorbed by the body which leads to them being less apparent on the skin. It is so effective that it does not affect any other tissue or any other part during treatment.
